The New World Order has been a subject matter of scrutiny and shrouded with many notorious but vague conspiracy theories. According to these theories it is claimed that some powerful group of individuals is either secretly running the world, contriving to do so or on the verge of gaining such control.
This conspiracy theory is kept alive by occasional reference to it by some eminent political persons in some other context to drive their message home. On January 29th 1991, US President George H W Bush in his second State of the Union address while speaking when the Gulf War was well underway in his zeal to promote the new era he claimed the conflict represented said,
“a big idea, a new world order, where diverse nations are drawn together in common cause to achieve the universal aspirations of mankind – peace and security, freedom, and the rule of law. Such is a world worthy of our struggle and worthy of our children’s future.” George H W Bush
A conspiracy is an agenda that anybody, a group of people or a body politic contrives to attain but shrouds camouflage and packages it apparently not only harmless but lofty words and presents it as if it meant for the higher ideals and social justice or uplift of the common man with malicious intentions to achieve the desired outcome for their ulterior motive secretly without the knowledge of the wider public.
The conspiracy theories essentially consist of three interconnected elements, the actions and goals are nefarious, and the conspirators manage to work around it because they are in a powerful position, sly, or manipulative, to control the course of events and the narrative lastly they operate in secret and cover-up their activities. The cover-up may involve fabrication of, removal of the evidence or influencing the persons who control the official narrative. Anybody whose job is to question each and everything like the media and academia who espouse scepticism or contempt toward the official narrative is despised and frowned upon.
The common theme of the conspiracy about a New World Order is that a secretive elite with a globalist agenda is conspiring to eventually take over and rule the world-destroying and replacing the sovereign nation-states to establish the New World Order and control the world.
Historically many contemporary influential figures have been alleged to be part of such an obnoxious cabal that envisages operating through front organisations in a bid to orchestrate significant political and financial events, manufacturing systemic and planned crises to push through controversial policies, at national and international levels, as part of their design in an ongoing plot to achieve world domination.
Stephen O’Leary, a professor at the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School, who studied conspiracy theories for two decades says that the proponents think that it’s an anticipated new era of global cooperation between diverse nations and cultures for providing all the earth’s citizens with everything they need while the detractors claim it a systematic approach to take-over by a combination of quasi-government entities and corporations who are hell-bent to take over covertly and organise an all-powerful global government aiming to regulate every aspect of citizens’ lives, reducing them a perpetual working class.
Conspiracy theory expert Mark Dice ascribes this conspiracy theory to right-wing anti-government extremists from the 1990s onwards who believe that a socialist tyrannical one-world conspiracy has already taken over most of the planet and plans to eliminate the free society with the help of collaborators within the government through repressive measures and manufactured crises like terrorist attacks and pandemics to eliminate dissent.
Anne-Marie Slaughter has an altogether different approach to this issue and exhorts us to rethink how we view the political world. According to her, it is not a collection of nation-states that communicate through heads of the governments like presidents, prime ministers, foreign ministers, and the United Nations or NGOs but it is governance through a web of government networks.
Slaughter insists that global governance is here–but not where most people think as the government officials, police investigators, financial regulators, judges and even legislators exchange information and coordinate activity across national borders to tackle crime, and terrorism on a routine basis as part of international interactions.
Great Reset, an initiative of the World Economic Forum launched in June 2020, calls for a fairer outcome and rethinking of global investment and expenditure of governments to revive the world economy after the devastation caused by the COVID-19 epidemic.
This initiative has refuelled the New World Order conspiracy theory and is thought to be a renewed conspiracy to bring about a one-world government by the elite group under cover of the COVID-19 to use it as an opportunity to enforce forced vaccination, digital IDs and renunciation of property rights by the public.
This conspiracy theory has so far been discussed in a hushed tone for a long time, has come to the surface and has assumed a big issue of the current times.
The World Economic Forum (WEF) Chairman Klaus Schwab has been hammering for decades for such a prospect and propagating the idea that the global corporations (Transnational Corporations) should not only limit themselves to serving the shareholders but also become custodians of the society. He is suggesting and emphasising that Transnational Corporations should take on the responsibility of governing the world and this malicious and sinister design of giving power over societies to the corporations stands exposed now.
It is interesting to note that the stakeholders of this form include the world’s biggest corporations and their ambit of operations, like oil (Audi Aramco, Shell, Chevron, BP), food (Unilever, The Coca-Cola Company, Nestlé), technology (Facebook, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Apple) and pharmaceuticals (AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna). A cursory look at these names leaves nothing to doubt about who they are and what they are up to.
In this scenario, we relegated the governments to be one of the many simple stakeholders while it promoted the corporations to be the official decision-maker stakeholders. It is no more a theory; it is a fact now.
